Local choir Canto Mundial brings the magic of the movies to life this April in a brand new concert, The Silver Screen – and there’s a twist.
If you’ve ever found yourself humming along to a film score or moved to tears by a movie soundtrack, Canto Mundial’s latest concert is not to be missed. The internationally-flavoured choir presents The Silver Screen – a joyful celebration of the most beloved songs ever written for the cinema – on Wednesday 29th April at 4:30pm at The Comm in Alfaz del Pí, and again on Thursday 30th April at 7pm at the Social Centre in Playa de Albir.
The programme spans five decades of film history, from golden-era Hollywood classics to modern blockbusters, and is packed with songs that audiences will know and love. Expect moments that will have you reaching for a tissue, moments that will have your feet tapping, and moments that will send a shiver down your spine – all performed in the choir’s trademark rich four-part harmony. But this concert comes with a fun extra twist. During the evening, the audience will be invited to take part in a pop quiz – can you name the film each song comes from? With twenty songs drawn from across the decades, it’s a chance to test your movie knowledge, enjoy a little friendly competition, and see how well you really know your cinema classics.
Canto Mundial is based in L’Alfaz del Pí and brings together singers from six different countries, directed by Philip Ashley. The choir is known for its warm, inclusive atmosphere and has been delighting audiences across the Costa Blanca for many years.
