Not all creativity is equal
MAFTs Marina Alta Fashion and Textiles Studio is where it’s taken seriously.
At a time when creative subjects like fashion and textiles are increasingly absent from many international and local school curriculums, MAFTs offers something that is quietly becoming rare, a place where these skills are properly taught, valued, and developed.
Based in Jávea Port, MAFTs delivers a focused, high-quality approach to fashion and textiles education on the Costa Blanca, built around real skills, not just passing trends.
This is not a hobby class. It’s a structured, studio-based environment where students are guided through the full design journey, from concept to finished piece. The approach is both disciplined and nurturing, creating a creative, supportive space where individuality is encouraged and confidence is built through doing.
Founded by a UK-qualified teacher and industry professional, MAFTs ( Marina Alta Fashion and Textiles Studio ) brings experience from international schools, colleges, and universities. As a UK exam board-approved assessor, the studio offers a clear understanding of what is required to succeed in BTEC, A Level, and IGCSE Fashion & Textiles, giving students a genuine advantage.
Learning is practical, immersive, and skill-led. Students develop design thinking, pattern cutting, and garment construction, alongside textile techniques including cyanotype printing, natural dyeing, batik, knitting, and crochet. Sustainability runs throughout, with upcycling and repurposing forming part of a modern approach to design.
Alongside hands-on work, students build digital design skills and create refined sketchbooks that document their ideas and progression. These qualifications can lead into careers such as fashion design, interior design, and wardrobe for film, theatre, and television, while also building confidence, independence, and problem-solving skills through creative practice.
Established on the Costa Blanca for two years, MAFTs has built a reputation for focused, high-quality teaching in a calm, inspiring setting. Small cohorts allow for more individual attention, stronger guidance, and meaningful progress.
Marina Alta Fashion and Textiles Studio Classes are available for both adults and children, with flexible options including weekday, evening, and Saturday sessions to suit different schedules and lifestyles. Enrolment for September is now open, with limited places available.
Summer Studio Sessions in July and August for those who want more than surface-level creativity, MAFTs offers real skills, clear direction, and a place to grow.
