Through the fund-raising efforts of our volunteers and supporters, we finance the Lynwen nursing team, as well as a dedicated translator and patient liaison officer at Denia hospital. But all of this costs serious money – you might be surprised to learn that providing these essential services costs Cancer Care Jávea nearly €100,000 per year.
Cancer Care Jávea works tirelessly to raise funds both through its shops and by holding popular fund-raising events. Our Plaza Summer Festival raised an amazing €1,300, and the Plaza was well and truly in ‘party mode’ with all the local businesses joining in the fun. The cake stall raised over €800 alone – a brilliant result! A big thank-you goes to our models, Mick Dennison, our DJ for the day and Pam’s People, who entertained everyone with their dance routines and made the day even more special. We love you all!
Our fund-raising doesn’t just end in Spain – Aran O’Sheehan cycled 2,500km of Ireland’s Wild Atlantic Way this summer and raised more than €11,000 (see https://www.facebook.com/aransadventures).
Upcoming events There’s a fab Fashion Show at La Plaza No.6 restaurant on 15 November and an OK Band musical/picnic event on 22 November.
Every penny we raise helps with our running costs. Why not drop in and browse our retail stores? New autumn stocks are arriving at our Cancer Care Boutique in the Plaza Avinguda del Pla 122, Jávea and the Cancer Care Jávea Charity Shop at Avinguda de Paris 8. Our furniture store is in Gata de Gorgos, on the N332, and can be visited on Tuesday and Thursday mornings between 10.00 and 13.00.
