Calpe Benissa Lions President, Carole Saunders was delighted to receive a 400€ donation from Suzanna the owner of the L’Ancora Bar on the Altea Albir border.
Suzanna had collected the money from a fund raising event at Christmas. Suzanna’s 400€ has been sent to the Lions Charitable Foundation along with 1,600€ that the Calpe Benissa Lions had collected. This money will be doubled by the Charity Foundation and sent to help in the restoration projects of various centres affected by the terrible flooding, the DANA, in Valencia. Over 500,000€ has already been approved by the Charitable Foundation for these projects.
In February the Ex International President of the Lions, Brazilian Fabricio Olieira, now President of the Charitable foundation, visited Valencia to see for himself the Lions work on the project to restore a day centre for the handicapped in Paiporta which had been badly damaged with the flooding. We are waiting for two more projects to get their final approval. He also visited the Melvin Jones spectacle recycling centre run by the Lions in San Vicente de Raspeig.
